The Effects of Art Museum Appreciation Activities Using Thinking Routines on Art Interpretation Ability

관람자 중심의 미술관에서 유의미한 경험을 하기 위해 감상자가 갖춰야 할 가장 기본적이고도 중요한 능력 중의 하나는 작품 해석능력이라고 할 수 있을 것이다. 본 연구는 Thinking Routines를 활용한 미술관 감상 활동이 작품 해석능력에 미치는 영향을 알아보기 위해 서울 A 초등학교의 3학년 B 학급 18명(남 10명, 여 8명)을 대상으로 실행연구를 하였다. Thinking Routines와 작품 해석능력과의 연관성을 찾아 관련도가 높은 루틴을 부분적으로 활용하였으며 연구 결과는 연구자가 본 연구의 목적에 맞게 재구성한 작품 해석능력의 구조에 따라 분석하였다. 분석의 결과, 학생들의 시각적 요소 관찰 능력, 주제 탐색 능력, 작품 맥락 탐구 능력이 향상되어 작품 해석능력이 신장 되었다는 유의미한 결론을 도출하였다. 이는 초보 감상자에게 작품을 해석할 때 참고할 수 있는 사고의 틀을 제공하는 것이 감상자와 작품 사이의 능동적인 상호작용을 촉진하고, 자기 주도적인 의미 형성으로 나아가는 지지대의 역할을 해줄 수 있다는 미술 교육적 시사점을 제시한다. 이러한 교육적 경험은 학생들 이 미술관을 방문했을 때 해석에 자신감을 가지게 하고, 미술 감상에 흥미와 관심을 가짐으로써 자신의 삶 속에서 미술문화를 향유할 수 있는 문화인으로 성장하는 데 밑거름이 되어줄 것이다.

One of the most basic and important abilities that a art appreciator must have in order to have a meaningful experience in a visitor-centered museum is the ability to interpret the work. This study designed and implemented an art museum appreciation program using Thinking Routines for 3rd grade elementary school students in a total of 10 times and studied its effects on the ability to interpret works. The research results were analyzed by triangular verification according to the structure of the art interpretation ability reconstructed for the purpose of this study. As a result of the analysis, a significant conclusion was drawn that students ability to observe visual elements, search for topics, and explore the context of works improved, thereby enhancing their ability to interpret works. This suggests that if there is a frame of thought that can be referred to by novice art appreciator, it will serve as a support for active interaction with the work and self-directed meaning formation. This educational experience will be the foundation for students to grow into cultural persons who can enjoy art culture in their lives by making them confident in interpretation and interested in art appreciation when they visit art museums.
