초심상담자들의 단회 채팅상담 경험 분석

An Analysis on the Single Session Chat Counseling Experience of Novice Counselors

본 연구는 단회 채팅상담과정에서 초심상담자들의 경험을 분석하여 채팅상담에 입문하는 초심상담자들의 경험을 심층적으로 알아보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 상담심리학 분야에 재학하고 있으며 대면상담 경력은 평균 약 1년, 사이버상담 경력은 평균 약 5.1개월인 초심상담자 10명에게 인터뷰를 실시하였고 그 자료를 합의적 질적 분석(Consensual Qualitative Research; CQR)으로 분석하였다. 그 결과 총 5개의 영역과 14개의 범주 및 33개의 하위범주로 분류되었다. 영역을 살펴보면 ‘문자 기반의 채팅상담 경험’, ‘관계형성 경험’, ‘매체 특성 경험’, ‘단회상담 경험’, ‘채팅상담 성과 경험’으로 나타났다. 초심상담자는 채팅상담에서 문자에 의존하여 내담자를 파악해야하기 때문에 어려움이 있었고, 공감 및 경청 등 비언어적 표현에 어려움이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 상담자와 내담자 타자 반응시간이 서로 엇갈리는 등 내담자와 상호작용하는데도 어려워하는 것으로 나타났다. 반대로 채팅상담의 특징을 상담에 활용하는 경우도 있었는데, 상담 후 축어록을 볼 수 있어 자신의 상담내용에 대한 검토를 통해 전문성 향상에 도움이 되었고, 내담자에게 제공할 정보 검색이 편리하여 실시간 상담에 활용할 수 있었던 경험 등을 의미 있게 제시하였다. 본 연구결과를 토대로 후속 연구에 대한 제언과 시사점을 논의하였다.

This study aims to analyze the experiences of novice counselors in the single-session online chat-counseling process and understand the experiences of novice counselors on online chat-counseling. For this aim, ten novice counselors were interviewed. They are on master s degree in counseling psychology and have 1-year face-to-face counseling and 5.1-month cyber counseling experience. The data were analyzed using the Consensus Qualitative Research(CQR) method. The result was classified into 5 domains, 14 categories, and 33 subcategories. The domains consist of text-based chat counseling experience, relationship formation experience, media characteristic experience, single session chat counseling experience, and performance of chat counseling. The novice counselors are having difficulties identifying the clients and understanding the problems the clients go through with. since the counselors can just rely on text messages. In addition, they couldn t give nonverbal expressions such as empathy and listening to the clients. They also missed the right timing to respond. However, the result shows some positive aspects applied for face-to-face counseling. They can develop their professional expertise by reviewing the contents of the chat counseling and presenting meaningful experiences as it is convenient for the counselors to search the information and provide it at hand. The findings and implications of this study are discussed.
