기독교인 내담자의 상담 성과 경험 과정에 대한 연구

A Study on Christian Clients Counseling Outcome Experiences

본 연구는 기독교인 내담자의 상담 경험 과정을 심층적으로 들여다봄으로써 내담자가 상담에서 무엇을 성과로 경험하고 있는지, 성과에 영향을 미치는 요인은 무엇인지 탐색하고 이해하는 데 목적이 있다. 본 연구를 위해 15회기 이상 상담을 받은 경험이 있는 11명을 대상으로 인터뷰를 실시하였고, 수집된 자료를 해석학적 근거이론 접근방법으로 분석하였다. 참여자들이 상담에서 성과를 경험하는 과정은 자각, 접촉, 준비, 동기화, 신뢰, 표현, 위기, 대처, 이해, 통찰, 돌봄 단계로서 상담 시작 전부터 상담 종결까지 이어졌다. 여기서 상담은 ‘영적 임재의 공간’, ‘해석의 공간’, ‘변형의 공간’, ‘자기 확장의 공간’으로 내담자에게 ‘수용’, ‘자유’, ‘연결’을 경험할 수 있게 하였다. 본 연구에서 상담 성과에 영향을 주는 요인은 ‘영적 자원’, ‘관계 자원’, ‘교육 자원’이었다. 참여자들은 각각의 자원을 활용함으로써 저항을 극복하고 성과를 경험해 가고 있었다. 본 연구는 기존의 상담 성과 연구에서는 논의되지 않았던 내담자 관점에서 기독상담 성과에 기여하는 요인들을 구체적으로 살펴보고, 기독상담의 고유성과 효과성에 대해 밝힘으로써 상담자들에게 치료 경험 과정과 성과에 관한 정보를 제공하였다.

This study aims to investigate and understand the counseling outcomes experienced by Christian clients and the factors affecting these outcomes by probing into counseling experiences. With the use of hermeneutical grounded theory methodology, the study analyzed data gleaned from interviews conducted with 11 clients who had received 15 or more counseling sessions from christian counselors. From the analysis, 120 meaningful units, 70 subcategories, and 24 categories were derived. In this caring process, counseling enabled clients to experience “being accepted, liberated, and connected” by providing “the space of spiritual presence, of emptying one’s mind, of transformation, and of self–expansion.” “Spiritual, relational and educational resources” were the factors found by this study to affect counseling outcomes. The significance of this study lies in the fact that it provided counselor with information regarding treatment process and outcomes by shedding light on factors contributing to Christian counseling outcomes and the uniqueness and efficacy of such counseling from a client perspective.
