사회정의의 관점에서 본 사회적 사건에 의한 간접외상 치유와 기독교상담의 역할

Healing Indirect Trauma due to Social Events and the Role of the Christian Counseling: with Perspective of Social Justice

이 논문에서는 기독교상담의 역할이 개인의 상처와 고통을 치유하고 돌보는 것에서 더 나아가, 사회적 문제와 사건에 간접적으로 영향 받는 사회 구성원들에 대한 적극적 관심과 실천 영역으로 확장될 수 있음을 살펴보고자 한다. 이를 위해 필자는 사회적 사건에 대한 간접외상의 개념과 증상을 개관하고, ‘사회적 사건에 의한 간접외상’ 치유라는 주제를 중심으로 기독교상담자가 어떻게 기능할 수 있는지에 대해 살펴볼 것이다. 이를 위해 심리학 분야에서의 사회정의 개념과 Paul Tillich의 사회정의 개념을 함께 적용하였다. 구체적인 논점은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 간접외상 현상은 사회적 사건이 개개인을 넘어서 사회 구성원 전체에게 영향을 주고 있음을 보여주는 중요한 증거가 될 수 있다. 둘째, 그간 기독교상담학에서 덜 관심을 기울여 왔던 사회정의의 주제가 사회적 사건에 의한 간접외상 치유와 밀접하게 관련되어 있다. 셋째, 간접외상 치유에 있어 기독교상담의 역할은 내담자 개개인의 증상 치유에만 관심을 두는 것에서 더 나아가 그 사회의 심리사회적 맥락 및 사회정의에 대한 이해와 관심뿐만 아니라, 사회정의를 향한 노력이라는 실천적 과정까지를 포함하여야 하며, 그 과정은 하나님과 우리의 관계를 기초로 한다는 것을 유념해야 한다.

This paper examines that the roles of Christian counselors are caring and healing individuals’ wounds and suffering, and furthermore, they can be expanded to have an interest and practice for the community members who are indirectly affected by social problems and events. For this, I will explore the concept and symptoms of indirect trauma from social events, and how the Christian counselors can function as subject of social participation, with a focus on healing indirect trauma due to social events. And I applied together the concept of social justice in the field of psychology and Paul Tillich’s social justice. Specific points of this paper are as follows: first, indirect trauma phenomenon is the important evidence showing that social event affects the whole society members beyond the individual. Second, the theme of social justice, that has been paid less attention in Christian counseling psychology, is closely related to healing indirect trauma due to social events. Third, the role of Christian counselors in the indirect trauma healing is concerning individuals’ symptom healing, and furthermore, it should include practical process of a participation in social justice realization, as well as understanding and having an interest in the society’s psychosocial context and social justice. And we should keep in mind that this process is based on relationship between God and us.
