목회자 아내의 은퇴 적응 경험 연구

A Study on Retirement Adaptation Experience for Wives of Korean Pastors

본 연구의 목적은 한국 사회문화적 맥락에서 목회자 아내의 은퇴 적응 경험의 본질과 의미를 밝혀내고 이를 토대로 은퇴 후 삶의 주체로 살아가도록 은퇴적응에 대한 목회상담 및 돌봄 방안을 모색하는 데 있다. 참여자는 배우자의 은퇴를 경험한 65세에서 78세의 목회자 아내들이다. 연구의 자료 수집을 위해 심층면접과 참여관찰을 하였고 자료 분석을 위해 현상학적 방법론을 사용하였다. 분석결과, 31개의 하위 구성 요소, 최종적으로 9개의 구성 요소를 도출하였다. 도출된 구성 요소는 ‘은퇴 준비에 대한 무지’, ‘은퇴 스트레스’, ‘은퇴로 인한 상실’, ‘자유와 해방’, ‘내적 자원’, ‘부부 관계’, ‘사회적 지원’, ‘현실 적응하기’, ‘더불어 살아가기’이다. 이러한 경험의 구조는 구성 요소들 간에 상호작용하며 경험의 단계별 과정, 즉 은퇴 전 단계, 인식 단계, 정리 단계, 적응 단계, 성숙 단계로 나타났다. 본 연구는 지금까지 국내외적으로 연구되지 않은 목회자 아내의 은퇴 적응 경험에 대한 질적 연구로서 소외되어 있는 목회자 아내들의 은퇴 후 삶에 대한 한국교회와 사회의 관심을 불러일으키며 목회상담적 함의를 이끌어내는 데 공헌하기를 기대한다.

The purpose of this study is to shed light on the nature and significance of retirement experience for wives of pastors within the Korean socialcultural context and using this as a basis to attempt at discovering a means for retirement adjustment pastoral counseling and care for the purpose of assisting them in living their post-retirement lives as principal agents of their lives. Participants to this study are wives of pastors between the ages 65 and 78 who have experienced retirement of their spouses. To collect data for this study, in-depth interviews and participant observations were used and phenomenological methodologies were used for data analysis. 31 lower component factors and ultimately 9 comprising factors were deduced as a result of the analysis. The factors deduced are ignorance regarding retirement preparation, retirement stress, feeling of loss from retirement, freedom and liberation, inner resources, marital relationship, social assistance, social adaptation, and coexistence. Such experiential structure appears in the form of experiential stage process. In other words, in the order of pre-retirement stage, awareness stage, organization stage, adjustment stage, and maturation stage. The significance of this study lies in the fact that it can contribute towards the implicit meaning of pastoral counseling and raise awareness of the Korean church and society towards the alienated post-retirement lives of pastors’ wives.
