From the perspective of Bowenian family theory, this study explored and analyzed the Patriarchs’families in the Genesis, paying attention to their biblical and theological implications. Specifically, the four Patriarchs - Abraham, Isaac,Jacob, Joseph - and their families were investigated by the four primary Bowenian concepts such as chronic anxiety, multigenerational transmission process, triangular relationship, and self-differentiation. The families showed various issues - fear of death, avoidance of responsibility, conflicts on the right of eldest son, and dramatic reconciliation - in which the invisible God intervened sincerely in accordance with His covenant with Abraham. Bowenian theory was based upon both the evolutionary theory and biology, while Christianity has its foundation on the covenant and revelation of God, so that proper integration between them seems quite difficult. However, this research tried to integrate between Bowenian theory and Christianity from the phenomenological lens, and found out meaningful similarities between the behaviors of spirituallymatured person and those of highly-differentiated person.
