The Relationships among the Psychological Characteristics and Sexuality of the Korean Married Women

This study explored the relationships among the psychological characteristics of and sexuality of Korean married women. Four hundred nineteen Korean married women were recruited from the Metropolitan areas of Seoul and Kyung-Ki Province. Sexual attitudes Scale, Index of Sexual Satisfaction Scale, Marital Intimacy Scale, and Female Sexuality scale were administered to them. The results indicated sexual that subjects with a higher degree of education and no menopause have more open sexual attitudes. Subjects in their twenties and thirties were more sexually open than subjects in their forties and fifties. Subjects in their thirties were able to express sexual communication better than subjects in their fifties. Sexual communication was the most powerful predictor for women’s sexuality. Sexual communication had the greatest influence on sexual desire, sexual excitement, orgasm, and sexual pain, but marital intimacy had the most influence on general sexual satisfaction. The limitation for this study was discussed.
