This thesis is a study on the self-awareness of those who experienced CPE program. The object of this study is those who completed elementary course of CPE program. The researcher attempted to apply the phenomenological research approach to understanding self-awareness of those who experienced CPE program. The results of this study can be summarized as follows: First, all persons who experienced CPE had selforiented motivation and others-oriented motivation. Especially, their otheroriented motivation is agreed commonly, whereas self-oriented motivation did not. Second, they were experienced as a care-giver, peer group member, supervisee and clinical staff. The role of care-giver is the most meaningful of all in self-awareness. Third, they also experienced rounding, verbatim seminar, supervision, IPR, guidance of a prayer meeting and preaching. Above all, rounding was the most meaning work awareness. Fourth, they had both negative and positive self-awareness about themselves through these experiences. But they had more negative selfawareness than positive self-awareness. Fifth, they stated many positive changes(results) in spite of their many negative self-awareness. Sixth, they stated the positive changes even though they had negative self-awareness. The reason why they stated so is because they found the meaning of selfawareness through CPE program. Meaning of self-awareness was interinternal, inter-external and inter-transcendent. Consequently CPE experience comes self-awareness without regard to various theological perspectives, supervisors’techniques and other social workers’help. By ‘participating’ in this program, one can find sufficient meaning.
