In the act of telling and listening the individual stories of life, care becomes practical and real, for the pastoral counselor and the client share life’s stories only with those whom they care for and about. We have spoken at length of God’s story, however God also listens to our stories and, gracefully, our sufferings and pains. Thus, storytelling is done in God’s presence. This article has presented a shift from the individual identity stories in narrative therapy to a relational identity stories with regard to God. Shifting the focus from an individual identity story to a relational identity story provides a potential possibility for all relevant relationships to be explored in the externalizing, re-authoring, and re-membering processes concerning the person’s relationship with God. Furthermore, this article has explained how the concept of a relational identity story opened the scope to the remembering process and how this concept can be used to recover the relationship with God. Although this article does not provide a model how this should be done, some ideas that have been shared in this article have been helpful for the pastoral counselor and the client. Therefore, I hope that these ideas will be useful resources in order to occur true healing of head and heart in the midst of the caring act and be able to deep the relationship with God in people’s life journey.
