A study on the Group Counseling Techniques of Jesus

This study examined the Group Counseling Techniques of Jesus. First, I described Jesus as a counselor, the concept of the Group Counseling, the Group Counseling in the Old Testament, and the Group Counseling in the New Testament. Then I closely inspected the Group Counseling Techniques used by Jesus in the New Testament. I eliminated the 8cases that are a type of the Group Counseling in the New Testament. Then, I analyzed Jesus interviews from the point of view of counseling techniques. I found that Jesus usually used the counseling techniques of attending behavior, active listening, clarification, self-disclosure, empathy and confrontation. Jesus solved many people s difficulties through these techniques. Sometimes Jesus trained his disciples With small groups. In the Group Counseling he focused on here and now and also used modeling Jesus discharged all his duties very well. Through this study We found the core techniques of Jesus counseling to be attending behavior, active listening, clarification, self-disclosure, empathy and confrontation. Therefore we have to endeavor to practice these counseling techniques as an expert. Church is a kind of a group. If we can use the Group Counseling Techniques of Jesus well, it ll be helpful to the church. It is meaningful that this study examined the Group Counseling Techniques of Jesus.
