초등학생의 홈스쿨링 경험과 성장에 관한 내러티브 연구

A Narrative Research on the Homeschooling Experience and Growth of Elementary School Student

이 연구는 홈스쿨링을 선택한 초등학생에 관한 내러티브 연구이다. 연구자는 한 학생의 이야기를 ‘홈스쿨링을 결정하기까지, 홈스쿨링의 어려움, 홈스쿨링을 버티게 하는 힘, 하나씩 찾아서 배우는 공부, 나와 이웃, 그리고 미래’라는 소주제로 구조화하였고, 이야기 속에 나타난 경험이 학생에게 어떤 의미인지 이해하며 해석하고 탐구하였다. 학생은 불안했던 학교생활과 교육적 신념 등의 복합적 이유로 홈스쿨링을 선택하였다. 처음엔 좋았으나 점차 어려움으로 다가오는 홈스쿨링을 통해 선택의 무게감과 책임감을 느꼈으며, 힘들 때마다 가족과 종교의 힘으로 이겨나갔다. 차츰 익숙해지면서 공부가 하고 싶어졌고, 하고 싶은 공부와 해야 하는 공부의 균형을 맞춰나가며 자발적으로 학습에 참여하고 있었다. 그리고 이 모든 경험은 학생 스스로 내면을 성찰하고 다독이는 힘을 키워 다시 삶을 살아내는 힘으로 순환되고 있었고, 여기서 멈추지 않고 이웃에 긍정적 영향을 미치며 미래를 준비하는 사람으로 조금씩 성장하고 있었다.

This study is a narrative research on elementary school students who chose Homeschooling. The researcher structured a student s story under the sub-topic Until deciding on Homeschooling, difficulties in Homeschooling, the power to endure Homeschooling, studying to find and learn one by one, my neighbor, and the future, and interpreted, and explored what the experience in the story meant to the student. The student chose Homeschooling for complex reasons such as unstable school life and religious beliefs. It was good at first, but she felt the weight and responsibility of her choice through Homeschooling, which was gradually approaching difficulties, and whenever she had a hard time overcame it with the power of family and religion. As she gradually got used to it, she wanted to study and she was voluntarily participating in learning by balancing what she wanted to do with what she had to do. All experiences were circulating as the power to reflect on and comfort the student herself and to live her life again, and without stopping here she was growing little by little as a person preparing for the future with a positive influence on her neighbors.
