특수교사의 긍정적 행동지원 중재 적용 과정과 실행 경험의 내러티브

Narrative Inquiry into Special Education Teachers’ Positive Behavior Support Intervention

본 연구는 두 명의 특수교사가 발달장애학생의 행동문제를 해결하기 위해 ‘긍정적 행동지원’ 중재를 적용한 과정과 경험을 내러티브하게 보여준 것이다. 두 교사의 내러티브를 통해 발달장애학생의 문제행동 지도와 긍정적 행동지원 중재 방법에 대하여 포괄적이면서도 입체적으로 이해하는 것이 연구의 목적이다. 이러한 목적을 위해 발달장애학생의 문제행동에 긍정적 행동지원 중재를 적용하고 있는 두 명의 특수교사에게 중재 과정과 중재 후에 면담을 통해 자료를 수집하였다. 연구 결과 발달장애학생의 문제행동 중재 성공은 발달장애학생의 문제행동에 접근하는 태도에 영향을 미칠 뿐 아니라 발달장애에 대한 이해에도 깊이 관여함을 알 수 있었다. 두 교사의 내러티브는 긍정적 행동지원 중재는 모든 절차를 명확히 준수하고 특히 문제행동의 이유를 파악하기 위한 기능 평가를 심도 있게 수행했을 때 성공 가능성을 높일 수 있다는 것을 드러내고 있으며 동시에 학교 환경에서 모든 과정을 체계적으로 실행하는 것은 어려운 부분도 있음을 보여주었다. 발달장애학생의 문제행동 예방은 행동을 둘러싼 환경을 재구화할 때 효과적임도 알 수 있었다.

This study is a narrative inquiry into two special education teachers’ positive behavior support intervention to problem behaviors of students with developmental disabilities. The purpose of this study is to comprehensively understand positive behavior support intervention for students with developmental disabilities. Data were collected through interviews with two special education teachers. This study reveal that one systematic and intensive attempt and success of interventions for problem behaviors of students with developmental disabilities not only affect the attitude toward problem behaviors of students with developmental disabilities but are also deeply involved in understanding developmental disabilities. The two teachers narratives reveal that positive behavior support interventions can increase the likelihood of success of problem behavior interventions when all procedures are clearly followed and, especially, in-depth functional assessment to identify the cause of problem behaviors is performed. Implementing the process systematically has also proven to be very challenging. In addition, the narratives of the two teachers clearly show the process of understanding the meaning of problem behavior prevention in the process of reflecting on positive behavior support interventions.
