부모의 심리적 통제와 완벽주의적 자기 제시의 관계에서 내면화된 수치심과 사회부과 완벽주의의 순차적 매개 효과

Relationship Between Parental Psychological Control Perceived in Adulthood and Perfectionistic Self-Presentation: Sequential Mediating Effects of Internalized Shame and Socially Prescribed Perfectionism

본 연구는 성인기에 지각된 부모의 심리적 통제와 완벽주의적 자기 제시의 관계에서 내면화된 수치심과 사회부과 완벽주의의 순차적 매개 효과를 두 매개 변인의 순서를 달리하여 검증하였다. 성인남녀 327명이 응답한 온라인 설문 자료를 분석한 결과, 부모의 심리적 통제는 내면화된 수치심과 사회부과 완벽주의의 순차적 매개를 통해서뿐만 아니라 사회부과 완벽주의와 내면화된 수치심의 순차적 매개를 통해서도 완벽주의적 자기 제시를 예측하는 것으로 나타났다. 그러나 정서 변인인 내면화된 수치심이 인지 변인인 사회부과 완벽주의를 선행하는 가설모형에서는 부모의 심리적 통제가 내면화된 수치심을 통해서만 사회부과 완벽주의를 예측하는 반면, 사회부과 완벽주의가 내면화된 수치심을 선행하는 모형에선 부모의 심리적 통제가 사회부과 완벽주의를 통해서는 물론 직접으로도 내면화된 수치심을 예측하였다. 이러한 결과는 자기 존재의 무가치감이자 고통스러운 정서인 내면화된 수치심이 타인의 인정을 받기 위해서는 완벽해야 한다는 사회부과 완벽주의 사고를 심리적으로 선행함을 암시하는 것이다. 본 연구결과의 의의와 임상적 함의, 제한점과 후속 연구의 방향이 구체적으로 논의되었다.

This study investigated the mediating effects of internalized shame(IS) and socially prescribed perfectionism(SPP), in two different sequential orders, on the relationship between parental psychological control(PPC) perceived in adulthood and perfectionistic self-presentation(PSP). A total sample of 327 adults participated in the online survey. The results indicated that PPC predicted PSP not only through a sequential order of IS and SPP but also through a sequential order of SPP and IS. However, PPC predicted SPP through IS in the mediation model that IS precedes SPP, whereas PPC predicted SPP both directly and through IS in the mediation model that SPP precedes IS. These findings suggest that IS of painful emotions may precede thoughts of SPP. Implications for future research and clinical practice and limitations of the research were discussed in details.
