점자학습기를 활용한 점자 문해 교육 프로그램이 시각장애 학생의 점자 읽기 능력 및 읽기․쓰기 태도와 정서지능에 미치는 효과

The Effect of Braille Literacy Improvement Program Using Braille learning device on Braille Reading Ability, Readung/Writing Attitudes, and Emotional Intelligence of Visually Impaired Students: Focusing on students with visual impairments in general kindergartens and elementary schools

본 연구는 점자학습기를 활용한 점자 문해 교육 프로그램이 일반 유치원과 초등학교에서 통합교육을 받고 있는 시각장애 학생의 점자 읽기 능력 및 읽기·쓰기 태도와 정서지능에 미치는 효과를 살펴보는 데 그 목적이 있다. 연구 방법은 일반 유치원과 초등학교에서 통합교육을 받고 있는 시각장애 학생 22명을 대상으로 16주에 걸쳐 점자 문해 교육 프로그램을 실행한 후 그 효과를 알아보기 위하여 점자 읽기검사, 점자 지식검사, 읽기․쓰기 태도 및 흥미검사, 정서지능 검사를 실시하였다. 검사 결과에 대하여 t검증을 통하여 분석하였으며, 중재 프로그램을 담당한 멘토 6명에 대한 면담 결과를 질적으로 분석하였다. 연구결과는 점자학습기를 적용한 점자 문해 교육 프로그램이 기본적인 점자 지식 습득에 긍정적 효과를 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 읽기 태도와 쓰기 태도에서는 집단 간 유의미한 차이가 나타나지 않았으나, 정서지능 중 정서조절력은 유의미한 차이를 보이는 것으로 나타났다. 마지막으로 멘토을 대상으로 한 면담 결과, 시간적 한계로 인해 낱말 읽기와 문장부호 습득에서는 본 프로그램의 효과가 매우 제한적인 것으로 나타나서 약자를 포함한 낱말 등의 학습을 하는 데는 멘토의 방문 시간 외에도 점자 학습을 위한 추가적 시간이 필요함을 보고하였다. 이러한 연구 결과에 따라 연구의 제한점과 향후 연구의 방향성을 제시하였다.

The purpose of this study was to examine the impact on reading-writing attitudes and emotional intelligence as well as braille reading abilities after implementing a literacy education program using a braille learner for visually impaired students receiving inclusive education in general kindergartens and elementary schools. As a result of this study, it was found that the braille literacy program had a positive effect on the acquisition of basic Braille knowledge and abilities. In addition, there was no significant difference between groups in reading and writing attitudes, but there was a significant difference in emotional regulation of emotional intelligences. Finally, as a result of interviews with mentors, it was found that the effectiveness of this program was very limited in reading words and learning punctuation marks, so it was reported that braille learning was necessary in addition to the tutor s visiting time to learn words reading and abbreviations. Based on the results of this study, the limitations of the study and the direction of future studies were presented.
