부모상실 맏이의 부모화 경험에 관한 현상학적 연구

Phenomenological Study of Parentification Experiences in Parental Loss Firstborn: Focused on Early-Adult Women

본 연구의 목적은 성인초기 여성인 부모상실 맏이의 부모화 경험에 대해 심층적으로 탐색함으로써 그 경험과 의미에 대한 이해를 제시하는 것이다. 이를 위해 부모상실 경험을 한 성인초기 여성 6명을 대상으로 심층면접을 진행하였고, 수집된 자료는 Smith 등(2009)이 제시한 해석학적 현상학 분석 절차에 따라 분석하였다. 본 연구 결과 부모상실 맏이의 부모화 경험은 <기댈 틈 없는 당연한 삶>, <가족은 지켜내야 할 절대적 기준>, <억누름으로 묻어 둔 또 다른 나>, 그리고 <비로소 새 살로 돋아 오른 오래된 상처>의 4개 주제로 나타났다. 이를 토대로 부모상실 맏이의 구체적인 부모화 경험의 내용을 제시하였고, 개인에게 미치는 사회맥락적인 영향에 대하여 논의하였다. 본 연구는 부모상실 맏이의 부모화 경험과 의미를 탐색함으로써 이들을 위한 사회복지 실천의 기초자료를 제시하였다는 점에서 의의가 있다.

The purpose of this study is to understand early-adult parental loss firstborn’s parenrification experience through exploring and interpreting their experiences. For the purpose, the researcher had in-depth interviews with 6 parental loss firstborns and analyzed them through Smith et al(2009)’s interpretative phenomenological analysis procedure. The result of the analysis drew 4themes which were revealed as ‘Life without leaning’, ‘Family is the absolute criteria to be protected’, ‘suppressed another self’, and ‘the old wound that just begins to cicatrize’. The key findings shown in this study are as follows. First, it was the key factor for parental loss firstborn to be parentified to experience parental loss. For further understanding, there shall be consideration of the social cultural context in Korea on the process of firstborn s Parentification. Second, parental loss firstborn showed restricted request for specific help in the growth process including Parentification experience. The results of this study suggest the need of accessibility of specialized psychological counseling system and the need of specific support of welfare system. Third, parental loss firstborn reached internal maturation and growth process through Parentification experience. This study is significant as it suggested specific substances of parental loss firstborn’s parentification experience and social contextual influence.
