약물중독자의 회복경험에 대한 현상학적 연구

A Phenomenological Study on the Recovery Experience of Drug Addicts: Growth from Victim Mentality to Sense of Responsibility

본 연구는 약물중독으로부터 회복을 꿈꾸는 사람들의 약물 중독 및 회복 경험을 바탕으로 그동안 사각지대에 있던 이들의 생활을 살펴보고, 약물중독자들의 고유한 경험을 현상학적 연구방법을 이용하여 분석하였다. 연구에는 의료적으로 약물중독 진단을 받았거나 중독회복 관련 프로그램에 참여한 경험이 있는, 1년 이상의 단약생활을 유지하고 현재도 단약을 위해 노력하고 있는 약물중독회복자 5명이 참여하였다. 자료 수집은 2017년 2월부터 6개월 동안 진행되었고, 일대일 심층면담을 통해 수집되었다. Giorgi(2004)의현상학 연구방법으로 접근하여 분석한 결과는 다음과 같다. 약물중독자 회복경험의 본질적 주제는 ‘폭풍에휩쓸려 오즈의 마법세계로 떨어짐’, ‘오즈를 만나러 가는 장정의 여행’, ‘사악한 마녀와 싸우기’, ‘오즈의 나라에서 돌아오기’였다. 약물중독회복자들의 이와 같은 경험들을 근거로 약물중독자들의 회복에 있어서의어려움과 사회구조적 문제들을 논의하였고, 지속가능한 관점에서의 사회복지 실천 및 정책적 함의를 제언하였다.

This study examined the lives of drug addicts who were in the blind spot of the society, and analyzed their unique experiences by using phenomenological research method. For this purpose, the participants were voluntarily consented five addicts claiming recovery who were diagnosed as intoxication or who participated in the recovery programs. Furthermore, the study consisted of participants who did not use drugs for more than one year. Data were collected through one-on-one in-depth interviews for six months from February 2017. The study results were as follows. The substantial themes of recovery experience were “swept away by the storm and fall into the magical world of Oz”, “the journey of a banquet to meet Oz”, “fighting the wicked witch” and “returning from the journey of Oz . Based on these experiences of drug addicts, this study discussed difficulties in restoring drug addicts and social structural problems, and proposed social welfare practices and policy implications from a sustainable perspective.
