An Autoethnography on the Experience of a Qualitative Researcher as a Social Worker in the Field of Social Work

본 연구의 목적은 사회복지사인 질적연구자의 사회복지현장에서의 연구 경험을 기술하고 함의를 알아보는 것이다. 나는 나의 박사학위 논문 수행과정에서 경험한 일을 회고하고 자문화기술지로 작성하였다. 이를 위해, 관련된 자료를 수집하고 재정리하였으며, 이 자료를 자기성찰적으로 분석하였다. 본 연구에서는 연구 주제 선정과 연구현장 진입, 자료수집 등 질적연구 과정을 소개하고, 연구자와 연구참여자 간 관계 맺기와 질적연구 윤리에 관한 함의를 발견하였다. 연구 결과를 통해, 독자는 한 질적연구자가 어떻게 사회복지현장에 진입하고 적응하며 연구참여자와 관계 맺어 갔는지를 볼 수 있을 것이다. 그리고 이 과정에서 발견된 몇 가지 원리는 사회복지 현장에서 질적연구를 하면서 연구참여자와의 관계 수립에서 혼란과 윤리적 갈등을 느끼는 연구자에게 도움이 될 수 있을 것이다.

The study aims to delineate the research experience of the qualitative researcher who is a social worker in the field of social work and to identify its implication. I recalled what I experienced during my doctoral dissertation process, and wrote it through an autoethnography. To achieve the objective of this study, I collected and rearranged the related data, and then analyzed the data through self-reflection. This result introduces the qualitative research process such as the selection of the research topic, entering the research field, and collecting the data. This study shows the implications of establishing qualitative research ethics and the relationship between the researcher and the research participants. Moreover, the results of this study will allow readers to see how a qualitative researcher entered and adapted the field of social work. Furthermore, some of the principles found in this process can help researchers who feel confuse or have ethical conflicts in establishing relationships with research participants while conducting qualitative research in the field of social work.
