대학 내 성소수자 커뮤니티의 의미에 대한 질적 연구

A Qualitative Study on Sexual Minority Communities in Universities: Focused on Community Experiences of Sexual Minority University Students

본 연구는 대학 내 성소수자 커뮤니티에 대한 의미를 알아보는 데 목적을 두었으며, 이를 위해 3개의 대학교의 성소수자 커뮤니티에서 활동하는 성소수자 8명을 대상으로 심층 면접을 진행하고 현상학적 연구 방법으로 분석하였다. 분석 결과 ‘부재의 장소’, ‘존재의 장소’, ‘장소의 확장’이라는 3개의 범주와 5개의 하위범주를 도출하였으며, 이성애 중심적인 사회에서 대학 내 성소수자 커뮤니티는 성소수자에게 있어 안정감과 해방감, 지지기반인 동시에 시야를 확장하고 사회와 연대할 수 있는 매개체가 된다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 이 연구를 통해 대학 내 성소수자 커뮤니티의 역할을 이해하고 성소수자가 자신으로 있을 수 있는 공간과 장소를 넓히는 데 보탬이 되길 바란다.

The purpose of this study is to research the meaning of the sexual minority community in the university. To that end, I conducted in-depth interviews with eight members of the sexual minority communities in three universities and analyzed them on a phenomenological research method. The analysis showed that there are three main themes, ‘place of absence’, ‘place of existence’, ‘expansion of place’ and five themes. The study also found that the sexual minority community at the university became a medium for expansion of vision as well as stability, liberation, and support in a heterosexual society. Hopefully, the study will help understand the role of the sexual minority community in universities and expand the place and space for the sexual minority.
