알코올중독자 부인의 사회적 지지 경험 연구

A Study on the Experience of Social-support of Problem Drinkers Wives

본 연구의 목적은 알코올중독자 부인이 남편의 알코올중독에 대처하는 과정에서 경험한 사회적 지지를 알아보는 것이다. 이를 위해 2005년 11월부터 2006년 6월까지 남편의 알코올중독에 효과적으로 대응한 13명의 부인들을 만나 심층 면접하여 이를 지속적 비교방법으로 분석하였다. 연구결과 부인들은 ‘비난하지 않고 희망주기’, ‘도움주지만 고통스럽게 하기’, ‘능동적으로 도움 이용하기’를 경험하였다. 이는 알코올중독자 부인의 경험을 인정하고 구체적 대처방법을 제시해주는 것이 중요하며, 사회적 지지가 객관적으로 주어지는 것이라기보다 주체와 환경간의 상호작용 속에서 주체의 기대와 부합되는 관계를 중심으로 구성되는 것이라는 것을 보여준다. 알코올중독자 부인에 대한 개입의 효과성을 제고하기 위해서는 부인들의 기대에 민감하고, 사회적 낙인에 대처를 해나가는 동시에 가족자조모임과 적극적인 협력관계를 구축하는 것이 필요하다.

This study aims at examining what problem drinkers’ wives experienced as support in the course of coping with their husbands’ long-term problematic drinking and how they constructed supportive relationship. For this, we conducted depth interview with 13 wives who effectively coped with their husbands’ problematic drinking from November, 2005 to June, 2006 and analyzed the results by the constant compararison method. As results of the study, wives experienced non-judgmental respect as support and kept supportive relationship through conscious selection. This fact shows that social support is constructed of relationship which corresponds with the subject’s expectation through interaction with the subject rather than what is given objectively. In order to increase effectiveness of intervention in problem drinkers’ wives, it is necessary not only to be sensitive to wives’ expectation and cope with public stigma, but also establish active cooperative relationship with selp-support groups.
