쪽방 거주 노인의 생활경험에 대한 질적 연구

A Qualitative Study on the Living Experience of the Old Residing in Jjok-bang

이 연구의 목적은 쪽방에 거주하는 노인들의 생활경험을 이해하고자 하는 것이다. 연구의 목적을 달성하기 위해, 본 연구에서는 쪽방에 거주하는 노인들과 집단 및 개별면접을 실시하고, 그밖에 관찰, 기록물 등을 통해 자료를 수집하고 분석하였다. 연구결과에서는 먼저 연구참여자들이 생활하고 있는 쪽방지역을 중심으로 맥락에 대해 상세하게 기술하고, 연구참여자들과 그들의 관계에 대해 기술하였으며, 마지막으로 쪽방 거주자인 연구참여 노인들의 생활경험을 살펴보았다. 연구참여자들의 생활은 기독교 신약성경에 등장하는 베데스다 연못의 상황에 비유되었다. 또한 쪽방 거주 노인들을 대상으로 면접을 실시하여 자료를 수집하고 분석한 결과, 떠밀려남, 버텨 살기, 가깝고도 너무 먼 그 곳, The others의 네 가지 주제가 나타났다. 연구결과에 근거하여 쪽방 거주 노인들의 삶의 질을 향상시키기 위한 정책과 실천 제언, 후속연구에 대한 의견을 덧붙였다.

The purpose of this study was to understand the living experience of the old residing in Jjok-bang. To achieve this purpose, researchers contacted six old residents in Jjok-bang, collected data from a individual and group depth-interview, observation, documents, and analysed data by a qualitative research approach. In research findings, the researchers thickly described the context of Jjok-bang region, the characteristics of each participants, and the relationship between them. And then, the researchers described the living experience of participants. Also, the researchers found the following four themes; being pushed, withstanding, the place which is near in a physical sense but distant in an emotional sense, the others. Based on the results, suggestions for policy, practice, and further research were discussed.
