고등학생들의 기후변화 소양 조사

Literacy survey of high school students on climate change - Focusing on climate change scientific concepts -

본 연구의 목적은 고등학교 학생들의 기후변화와 관련된 소양으로서 기후변화 관련 과학 개념을 알아보는 것이다. 이에 기후변화의 기본 개념, 메커니즘/원인, 결과/영향 범주로 구성된 22문항(세부 문항 59문항)의 기후변화 관련 과학 개념 검사 도구를 사용해 고등학생 188명을 대상으로 검사를 시행하였다. 연구 결과 고등학교 학생들의 기후변화 관련 과학 개념 문항들에 대한 정답률은 64.0%였으며, 범주별 정답률은 각각 65.0%, 63.0%, 63.0%로 비슷한 결과를 보였다. 다만 익숙하지 않은 개념을 포함하거나 문항의 유형이 익숙하지 않은 일부 문항에 대해서는 낮은 정답률을 보였는데 효과적인 기후변화 소양 함양 교육 측면에서 추가적인 분석 및 연구가 필요하다. 본 연구를 통해 고등학생들의 기후변화 소양과 관련하여 기후변화 관련 과학 개념의 수준을 파악할 수 있으며 세부 개념에 따라 개념 수준에 차이가 있다는 것을 알 수 있다는 점에서 의미가 있다

This study examined the conceptual understanding of secondary students on climate change. The researchers developed an instrument consisting of four domains, such as fundamental concepts, mechanism, and impact, and asked 188 students to answer the questions related to each domain. The overall percentage of correct answers was 64.0%, and each correct categorical rate was similar from 63.0% to 65.0%. Moreover, the students showed a relatively low percentage of correctly answering questions that dealt with unfamiliar situations, which needs further investigation. Conversely, this study effectively elaborates the students’ conceptual understanding regarding climate change.
