대졸 청년층의 인턴 활동 경험에 따른 노동시장 성과분석

Analysis of Labor Market Outcomes According to Internship Experience of University Graduates

이 연구는 대졸 청년층의 인턴활동 경험이 노동시장 성과(취업여부, 고용형태, 종사상규모, 월평균임금 및 직무만족)에 미치는 영향을 분석하기 위한 목적으로 수행되었다. 이를 위해, 2019년 대졸자 직업이동 경로조사(Graduate Occupational Mobility Survey, 이하 2018GOMS)에 응답한 18,163명 중 성향점수매칭 방식을 적용하여 만 27세 이상 34세 미만의 848명을 최종적인 연구대상으로 선정하였다. 이 연구에서는 노동시장 성과를 분석하기 위해 취업여부, 고용형태, 종사상규모, 월평균임금 및 직무만족을 성과지표로 설정하였다. 노동시장 성과지표 중 취업여부, 고용형태, 종사상규모와 같이 이분형 변수의 경우에는 이항 로지스틱 회귀분석을, 월평균임금과 직무만족과 같은 연속형 변수의 경우에는 OLS 추정법을 활용한 다중회귀분석을 실시하였다. 분석결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 대졸 청년층 중 인턴경험을 보유하고 있는 대상자는 그렇지 않은 대상자에 비해 상대적으로 양질의 노동시장 성과를 보였다. 둘째, 대졸 청년층의 인턴활동 경험은 노동시장의 주요 지표 중 고용여부와 월평균임금에 정(+)적인 영향을 미쳤다. 이와 같은 연구 결과를 바탕으로 후속연구를 위한 제언을 제시하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 대졸 청년층의 노동시장 성과지표를 추가적으로 제시해야 한다. 둘째, 대졸 청년층의 노동시장 성과에 영향을 미치는 통제변인을 다양한 관점에서 고려해야 한다. 셋째, 인턴제도의 유형 별 노동시장 성과를 분석하는 연구가 수행되어야 한다. 넷째, 분석 변인으로 도출한 변인 간의 위계가 존재하는 경우, 분석과정에서 발생할 수 있는 통계적 오류를 최소화하기 위해 위계적 선형모형과 같은 통계적 보정방식을 대안으로 고려해야 한다.

The aims of this study were to investigate labor market outcomes(employment, employment status, worker composition within firm, monthly salary and job satisfaction) for university graduates. To this end, 848 out of the 18,163 respondents to the 2019 Graduate Occupational Mobility Survey(2018GOMS) aged 27 to 34 were selected for the study using propensity score matching. Binary logistic regression was performed for bifurcated variables such as employment, employment status and worker composition within firm, and OLS regression was applied for continuous variable such as monthly salary and job satisfaction in order to analyze labor market outcomes set out in this study. The results were as follows. First, among university graduates, those who have internship experience showed relatively high quality of labor market outcomes compared to those who do not. Second, the internship experience of university graduates has a positive effect on employment status and monthly salary among the major indicators of the labor market. Based on those results, suggestions and implications for further research are as follows. First, it is necessary to figure out additional labor market outcomes criteria. Second, it is needed to consider the control variables effecting on labor market outcomes of university graduates. Third, it is needed to have a research to analyze the labor market outcomes by types of internship. Fourth, it is required to regard additional statistical methods such as hierarchical linear models in the presence of hierarchy between variable to minimize possible statistical errors in the analysis process.
