영국의 박물관 디지털 교육의 역사

A historical approach to digital learning at museums in the UK

본 논문은 영국의 박물관(미술관, 과학관 포함)을 중심으로, 사회, 기술 변화에 따른 박물관 디지털 교육의 역사적 흐름을 살펴봄에 목적이 있다. 지난 30여 년간 영국 박물관의 디지털 교육 역사를 태동기(1990년대 ~ 2000년대), 확산기(2010년대), 재도약과 성찰기(2020년~현재, 포스트 코로나 시대)로 나누고, 각 시기별 교육 대상, 교육 내용, 교육 방법의 변화를 살펴본다. 이를 통해 박물관 디지털 전환의 비판적 성찰과 미래 발전 전략 설정에 기여하고자 한다.

This paper aims to show a historical evolution of digital learning programs at museums in the UK, with the consideration of technological development in society. This paper explains to what extent the audience, the content, and the method of digital learning at museums have changed over the past three decades, which can be divided into an initial period (the 1990s to 2000s), an expansion period (2010s), and a reformation and reflection period (2020 to present, post-COVID). Ultimately, this paper contributes to critical discussions around the digital transformation of museums and digital strategies for future museums.
