PATHS 기반 집단미술치료프로그램이 유아의 사회적 유능감에 미치는 효과

The Effect of PATHS-Based Collective Art Therapy Program on the Social Competence of Young Children

본 연구는 PATHS 기반 집단미술치료가 유아의 사회적 유능감에 미치는 효과를 검증하는데 목적이 있다. 연구대상은 J시에 소재한 M어린이집과 C어린이집의 만 5세 유아 22명을 선정하여 실험집단 11명, 통제집단을 11명으로 구성하였다. 실험집단은 2019년 9월 16일부터 11월 1일까지 주 2∼3회, 사전 사후 검사를 제외한 총 17회기로 매 회기 50분씩 집단미술치료를 실시하였다. 효과성 검증을 위한 연구도구는 이혜원(2005)이 개발한 교사용 사회적 유능감 척도를 사용하였다. 자료 분석은 실험집단과 통제집단의 동질성 검증을 위하여 t검증을 하였고, 효과검증을 위해 사전-사후-추후 점수를 이용하여 반복측정 분산분석(repeated measured ANOVA)을 실시하였다. 프로그램의 효과성에 대한 결과, 사회적 유능감은 긍정적인 효과가 있었으며, 그 효과는 지속되었다. 따라서 본 연구에서 제시한 PATHS 기반 집단미술치료는 유아의 사회적 유능감에 긍정적인 효과가 있음을 알 수 있었으며, 이러한 연구 결과를 바탕으로 본 연구의 의의와 제한점에 대하여 논의하였다.

The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of Problem Adaptation Therapy (PATHS)-based collective art therapy on the social competence of young children. The subjects were selected as those who were 5 years old and had been attending M or C nursery in J city. Each of the 11 young children was randomly assigned to the experimental or control groups. For the experimental group, PATHS-based collective art therapy was administered from September 16 to November 1, 2019; therapy consisted of two to three sessions a week for a total of 17 sessions, excluding the pre-and post-examinations, for 50 minutes each session. The Development of a Social Competence Rating Scale for Young Children was used to verify the effectiveness of the study, which was developed by Hyewon Lee et al. (2005). For the statistical analysis, the independent T-test was conducted to verify the homogeneity of the experimental and control group. To assess the effectiveness of the program, the repeated-measures ANOVA was performed with the pre-test scores. The results of this study showed that PATHS-based collective art therapy positively affected on social competence of young children, and the effect was sustained. Based on these results, discussions on the significance and limitations of this study were addressed.
