기초학력 향상을 위한 지원 정책과 초등영어교육

The Governmental Policy of Supporting Students’ Learning Deficit in Elementary English Education

This paper introduces the policy of Ministry of Education of improving students’ basic ability to handle with the knowledge of sounds and letters in elementary English education. As we know that the corona pandemic has swept away the benefits of school education since 2020, students have not been given enough amount of learning for mastering English Alphabet knowledge though they are exposured to various kinds of on/offline learning systems. Ministry of education(2021) has recently announced a policy for assisting students who have not achieved their basic standards in 3rd and 4th grade and 5th and 6th that the English curriculum required. This research suggests two types of samles of English teaching and learning materials for students to have such knowledge of English sounds and letters. One is for 3rd and 4th grade and the other for 5th and 6th. Both are supplementary learning ways and have to get students to have such knowledge of how to relate between English sounds and letters. Above all, elementary students need to be taken care of their mind which has interest and confidence and they never give up learning English.
