대학에서의 비교과의 역할과 위상

The Role and Status of University Extra-curricular Activity

본 연구는 기존의 실증연구에서 다뤄지지 못한 고등교육과정에서 비교과가 차지하는 역할과 위상에 대해 논의하고자 한다. 이러한 논의를 위해 비교과 관련 선행연구들을 살펴보고 타 대학의 비교과 운영자를 중심으로 한 델파이 조사를 실시하여 비교과에 대한 보편적 정의를 도출하고자 하였다. 또한 대학생들의 비교과에 대한 인식과 요구정도를 분석하였다. 결과를 요약하자면, 대학에서 운영되는 비교과의 유형 및 국내외 연구들은 비교과를 크게 세 가지로 구분하여 개념화하고 있는 것으로 나타났으며, 델파이 조사에서는 ‘정규과정 이외의 대학생활 중 경험할 수 있는 모든 활동’과 ‘재학기간 중 정규 교육과정에서 제공하지 못하는 학생의 자기계발 노력을 지원하고 지도하는 정기적인 교육프로그램’으로 비교과를 정의하고 있었다. 대학생들은 비교과를 ‘동아리’, ‘활동’, ‘체험’, ‘멘토링’ 등으로 인식하고 있었으며, 비교과에 대한 요구도는 ‘현 비교과의 유지 및 확대’와 ‘학기 중, 방학 중 비교과 확대’가 가장 높았다. 또한 비교과 참여한다면 그 이유는 ‘새로운 것에 도전하고 싶어서’가 가장 높았고, 비교과는 ‘대인관계 형성에 도움이 되기 때문에’라고 응답하였다. 하지만 비교과를 참여하는데 제약이 되는 주된 이유는 ‘전공 및 알바 등으로 인한 시간 제약’이 제일 큰 것으로 나타났다. 결과를 바탕으로 연구의 목적을 도출하고 앞으로 나아갈 방향과 시사점을 제시하고자 한다.

The purpose of this study is to discuss the role and status of extra-curricular in higher education that was not addressed in previous empirical studies. For this discussion, the related researches were reviewed and conducted a Delphi survey centering on extra-curricular and operators of other universities to derive a universal definition of extra-curricular and to analyze college students’ perceptions and Importance-Performance Analysis (IPA) of extra-curricular. As a result, the types of extra-curricular departments operated by universities and domestic and foreign studies were found to be conceptualized by classifying the extra-curricular program or activities into three categories. Recognized, and the reason for extra-curricular and participation was that ‘I want to try something new’ was the highest, and the extra-curricular responded ‘It helps to form interpersonal relationships.’ However, the main reason for the restriction of participation in the extra-curricular program was ‘time constraints due to majors and albas’. Based on the results, It intend to derive the purpose of the study and suggest directions and suggestions for the future.
