애니메이션 <언더독>에 나타난 자연-인간 관계에 대한 유아교육적 의미 탐색

Exploring the Childhood Educational Meaning about Nature-Human Relation in the Animation <Underdog>

본 연구는 동물과 자연, 그리고 인간의 모습을 보여주고 있는 애니메이션 <언더독>을 통해 자연-인간 관계를 분석해보고 그것이 가지는 유아교육적 의미에 대해 탐색해보고자 한다. 2019년 1월에 개봉된 애니메이션 <언더독>은 버려진 동물들의 모험 이야기를 통해 생명의 소중함과 인간의 역할 등에 대한 주제를 다루었다는 점에서 주목받은 애니메이션이다. 분석결과, <언더독>에 나타난 자연과 인간의 관계는 수평적 관계, 상호존중적 관계, 공존의 관계로 나타났다. 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 인간중심적 자연관에서 벗어나 모든 생명체를 소중히 여기며 함께 더불어 살아가는 방향의 자연관으로, 인간만이 우월하다는 인간관에서 벗어나 인간으로서 가져야 하는 윤리적 책임을 다하는 인간관으로의 전환을 제안하였다. 또한, 이러한 자연관과 인간관을 형성하기 위해서는 유아교육과정에서 아이들에게 자연과 생명을 접할 기회를 제공하고 이를 통해 유아와 교사가 생태적 감수성을 기를 수 있는 방향으로 나아가야 한다는 점을 시사함으로써 본 연구의 유아교육적 의미를 찾고자 하였다.

This study investigates the nature-human relationship using Underdog, and explores the meaning of early childhood education. Underdog is a critically acclaimed animated story of an abandoned animal which touched on the value of life and the human role in nature. The results showed that the nature-human relationships portrayed in Underdog are horizontal, involve mutual respect, and are coexistent. Based on these results, this study suggests a transition from a human-centered view of nature to an eco-centered view that cherishes all living things, and a transition from a human superiority perspective to a human moral responsibility perspective. To engender this type of perspective, children must be exposed to nature and life force through the early childhood curriculum, and, alongside their teachers, move toward developing ecological sensitivity. This explains this study’s educational significance.
