어머니의 문지기 역할과 아버지 양육행동 간의 관계에서 부부갈등과 양육효능감의 순차적 매개효과

The sequential mediation effects of parental conflict and parenting efficacy between maternal gatekeeping and child-rearing behavior of fathers

본 연구의 목적은 어머니의 문지기 역할과 아버지의 양육행동 간의 관계에서 부부갈등과 양육효능감의 순차적 매개효과를 확인하는데 있다. 이를 위하여 3, 4, 5세 유아기 자녀를 둔 아버지 357명을 대상으로 결과를 분석하였다. 주요 결과는 첫째, 어머니의 문지기 역할, 부부갈등, 양육효능감, 양육행동 변인 간의 상관관계가 나타났다. 둘째, 어머니의 문지기 역할과 애정적인 양육행동의 관계에서 부부갈등과 양육효능감은 순차적으로 매개역할을 하는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 아버지가 인식하는 어머니의 문지기 역할이 부부갈등, 양육효능감과 양육행동에 대해 갖는 부정적인 영향력을 탐색함으로써 아버지를 대상으로 양육관련 변인을 살펴보고, 공동양육에 대한 시사점을 주는데 의의가 있다.

The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of maternal gatekeeping on the child-rearing behavior of fathers through the sequential mediation effects of parental conflict and parenting efficacy. A total of 387 fathers of 3 to 5 year-old preschoolers responded to questionnaires that included items related to maternal gatekeeping, parental conflict and parenting efficacy, and father child-rearing behavior. Data was analyzed by descriptive statistics, Pearson’s correlation coefficients, factor analysis, and structural equation modeling analysis. The results indicated that maternal gatekeeping, parental conflict, and parenting efficacy were predictable variables of a father’s child-rearing behavior. Secondly, maternal gatekeeping indirectly affected paternal child-rearing behavior by complete mediation of parental conflict and parenting efficacy. These findings provide detailed information about how the system of maternal gatekeeping, parental conflict, and parenting efficacy influences paternal child-rearing behavior. Given this information, this study provides empirical evidence necessary for marital communication, a factor that can help lead to paternal positive parenting behavior. The discussion includes suggestions for encouraging positive child-rearing behavior and co-parenting.
