Kristeva 관점으로 ‘여우누이’ 다시 읽기

Reading ‘The Fox Sister’ with Kristeva

본 연구는 우리나라에서 널리 읽혀지고 있는 ‘여우누이’를 페미니즘의 관점에서 읽고자 하였다. 이런 목적을 두고 이 이야기의 인물들과 그들 행동이 갖는 여성적 의미를 찾기 위해서 모체와의 초기경험으로 형성된 Julia Kristeva의 개념, 즉 기호계, 아브젝트, 코라 등을 이용하였다. 이런 관점을 수용한 결과, 모성과의 유대를 강조하는 Kristeva의 여성담론이 이제까지 발간된 Freud식 혹은 Jung식의 심리학을 포함한 다른 관점들에 더하여, ‘여우누이’를 읽는 유용한 틀이 될 수 있음을 보여줬다. 더불어, 아동기의 모성박탈과 여성적 감화가 주체적 인성발달에 중요한 자원임을 주장한 이들의 페미니즘 담론이 ‘여우 누이’에 등장하는 주요 인물들의 행위 의미를 볼 수 있는 하나의 창이 될 수 있음을 드러냄은 물론 이 이야기를 통해 아동의 인성발달 그리고 독립된 주체로 태어나는 과정에 모성적 유대가 중요하다는 생각을 재확인 할 수 있었다. 이런 내용을 중심으로 이 이야기의 잠재성이 함께 논의되었다.

This study aims to read the Korean folklore ‘The Fox Sister’ from a feminist perspective. For this purpose, it employs Julia Kristeva’s concepts such as the semiotic, abject, and chora (which are formed from the early childhood experience with the maternal body) to find a feminine meaning of the characters and their behaviors. Unlike Jacques Lacan, she proposed that the semiotic does not disappear in the Symbolic position, but is present in a concealed evidence and connecting it to patriarchal authority in contributing to the self-integration with the Other. The results showed that, in addition to other perspectives, including Freudian and Jungian psychology, which can be found easily in recently published folklore studies, her feministic stance and the discourse, which emphasize the maternal bond, can be used as a frame for interpreting the psychological meaning of ‘The Fox Sister’. In addition to this, the idea that early maternal influence contributes to the child’s personal development and in becoming an independent subject was reconfirmed. With this intention, the potentiality of the story, ‘The Fox Sister’, was discussed.
