어머니들의 ‘생태적 육아’에 대한 이미지 연구

A study of mothers impressions of ‘ecological child-rearing’

본 연구는 어머니들이 가지는 생태적 육아에 대한 주관적인 이미지와 그 이유에 대해 살펴봄으로써 생태적 육아에 대한 실천과 방향 제시를 위한 기초자료를 마련하고자 이루어졌다. 이를 위해 P시와 J시에 거주하는 어머니 154명을 대상으로 생태적 육아에 대한 이미지와 그 이유에 대해 조사하여 분석하였다. 그 결과, 어머니들이 가지는 생태적 육아에 대한 이미지는 육아의 장소, 방법, 특성, 효과 4가지 측면으로 분류할 수 있었다. 생태적 육아의 장소로는 자연과 숲, 생태적 육아의 방법에 대해서는 전통의 지혜를 담은 육아, 먹거리부터 실천하는 육아, 온 몸으로 체험하는 육아로 나타났다. 또한 생태적 육아의 특성에 대한 이미지는 자연스러운 육아, 방법을 넘어선 삶의 육아, 더불어 함께하는 육아, 생태적 육아의 효과에 대해서는 몸, 마음이 건강해지는 육아, 아이들의 세대, 미래를 생각하는 육아로 나타났다. 본 연구 결과를 통해 생태적 육아에 대한 개념을 정립할 수 있었으며 생태적 육아의 확산을 위한 실천적 시사점을 모색하는데 기여하였다.

The purpose of this study was to gather basic data for suggesting the practice and the direction of ecological child-rearing by examining subjective impressions of ecological child-rearing that mothers already have, and their reasons for holding these opinions. The study surveyed and analyzed mothers impressions and their reasons for choosing ecological child-rearing. The subjects targeted were 154 mothers in P city and J city. As a result, impressions of ecological child-rearing conceived by mothers could be classified in four categories: the place, method, characteristic, and effects of child-rearing. According to the mother surveyed, the place of ecological child-rearing was understood to be ‘child-rearing in nature, the forest, and outdoors’. Its method was ‘child-rearing that includes traditional wisdom,’ ‘child-rearing through choice of food,’ and ‘child-rearing experienced with the whole body.’ The mothers understood the characteristics of ecological child-rearing to be ‘natural child-rearing,’ ‘child-rearing in life beyond method,’ and shared ‘child-rearing. The effects of ecological child-rearing were ‘child-rearing to be healthy in body and mind’ and ‘child-rearing that considers the children s generation and future.’ The results of this study established a definite concept of ecological child-rearing, which contributed practical implications for expanding ecological child-rearing.
