Development and application of a sing along testing tool

The purpose of this investigation was to develop a screening tool that can measure toddlers’ ability to sing, sing-along songs. In an early childhood setting, 33 people conducted a pre-inspection to target primary toddlers as well as a second preliminary examination wherein 26 people sang from Cubase 5.0. In an early childhood program, the program’s tools were used to analyze and determine the songs’ pitch on the basis of the songs’ rhythm. For this purpose, 341 young children s songs were analysed using the Cubase 5.0 program. The results of the study were as follows:First, a new testing instrument―“singing along”―that can measure the musical ability of young children by recall was developed. Second, the children’s sense of tune and rhythms was analyzed using the singing along testing tool, and no statistically significant difference were found in the children’s musical ability with regard to gender and age; however, an aged-based difference was found with regard to the “do” tune, and a difference was found between 6-year-olds and 7-year-olds with regard to the “do”, “re”, “mi”, and “sol” tunes. Further, with regard to rhythms, 5-year-olds played the tunes more accurately than the 6- and 7-year-olds, and the 5-year-old females played more accurately than their male counterparts.
