보육실습에서 예비유아교사의 아동권리존중 경험에 대한 질적 연구

Qualitative research on respecting children’s rights: experience from pre-service practicum teachers

본 연구는 전문대학 3년제 유아교육과 3학년 20명을 대상으로 한 보육실습에서의 영유아권리존중 경험에 대한 질적 연구이다. 1차 자료 수집은 2013년 5월 13일에 서술식 질문지, 2차 자료 수집은 2013년 8월 12일부터 8월 23일까지 서술식 질문지에 기초한 심층면담을 하였다. 연구 결과, 연구 참여자들은 보육실습을 통해 발달연령에 적절하게 지원하며 긍정적인 감정으로 기다리기, 유아의 견해를 담는 수업하기, 유아의 자율성 존중하기가 이루어지는 아동권리존중의 보육현장과 생리욕구 타율적으로 조절하기, 돌봄의 부재, 힘 남용하며 통제하기가 이루어지는 아동권리침해의 보육현장을 경험하였다. 이러한 경험을 통해 연구 참여자들은 영유아권리 존중의 기저로 영유아의 의도 경청하기, 자율적인 존재로 배려하기, 화 감정 조절하며 인내하기, 교육신념 갖기, 권리 감수성 갖춘 유아교사 배출하기, 권리 감수성 재교육을 통해 거듭나기를 제안하였다. 본 연구는 교육관 및 개인의 신념에 따라 영유아권리존중 관점이 형성되므로 유아교사를 배출하는 교육과정에 대한 접근 방향성을 시사한다.

This qualitative study explored the concept of respecting children’s rights, as based on theexperiences of 20 third-year students in an early childhood care education program at a college. Preliminary data were collected using a descriptive questionnaire given on May 13, 2013. Thesecond stage of data collection included in-depth interviews, which were based on thequestionnaire and were conducted between August 12 and 23, 2013. Students who participated inthe study experienced children’s rights being respected during their practicum in the followingways; supporting children in accordance with their developmental age, treating them well,providing learning opportunities reflective of children’s interests, and respecting their autonomy. However, students also had experiences during their practicum where children’s rights wereabused: the controlling of physiological needs, the absence of care, and presence of physicaldiscipline coupled with misused power. Through these experiences, the students suggested thatthe adults employed at the childcare actively listen to the children’s intentions, respect thechildren as an independent existence, control their feeling of anger with patience, have strongeducational beliefs, employ early childhood teachers who are sensitive to children’s rights andrefresh the importance of respecting children’s rights through in-service sensitivity training. Thus,this study discussed how to create curriculum to develop early childhood teachers whoseeducational viewpoints and personal beliefs are respective of children’s rights.
