실내 및 실외놀이에 대한 만 5세 유아들의 인식

Five-year-old children’s perceptions of indoor and outdoor play

본 연구는 유아교육기관의 실내 및 실외 공간에서 이루어지는 놀이에 대한 유아들의 인식을 살펴보는데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 수도권에 위치한 유아교육기관에 재원하고 있는 만 5세 유아 79명을 대상으로 실내 및 실외놀이에 대한 그림그리기와 면담을 실시하였다. 실내놀이와 실외놀이의 외현적 이미지는 유아들이 함께 놀이하는 대상, 놀이에서 자신의 역할을 분석하였으며, 내재적 이미지는 유아들이 놀이하면서 느끼는 감정과 정서를 분석하였다. 실내놀이와 실외놀이에 대한 유아의 이미지는 서로 유사하면서도 다른 양상이 나타났다. 이와 같은 결과를 기초로 실내놀이와 실외놀이의 균형적인 운영이나 성인의 시선이 아닌 유아의 입장에서 실내놀이와 실외놀이를 활성화하기 위한 방안을 논의하였다.

This research explores how young children perceive the indoor and outdoor play. To accomplishthis goal, drawing and individual interviews were carried out 79 young children at the age of fiveyears old who are attending a child care center and two preschools located in the Seoul capitalarea. The qualitative data were categorized as either extrinsic imagery (showing playmate andchildren s roles during play) or as intrinsic imagery (depicting positive or negative feelings duringplay). The research results showed that the children held similar but different images about theindoor and outdoor activities. These results suggest the necessity for the balance between indoorand outdoor play, and also imply the direction to form a proper environment so that youngchildren can play in accordance with their perception rather than that of adults.
