‘어린이 키우기’와 ‘어린이 모시기’에 관한 문헌연구

A Literary Study on ‘Raising the Child’ and ‘Serving the Child’ : In the center of “Dong-Gyu” and “Haewolsinsa-Beobseol”

본 연구는 ‘어린이 키우기’와 ‘어린이 모시기’를 고찰할 수 있는 두 문헌을 비교하여, 생태유아교육 어린이관의 뿌리가 되는 사상을 살펴보는데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 조선의 어린이 교육관을 구체적으로 고찰할 수 있는 문헌인, 「동규(童規)」와 「해월신사법설(海月神師法說)」을 살펴보고, 두 문헌의 비교 분석을 통하여 어린이관에 따른 ‘어린이 키우기’와 ‘어린이 모시기’를 검토한다. 두 문헌을 비교해 본 결과, 어린이에 대한 관점이 어린이에 대한 태도를 결정한다는 사실을 알 수 있었다. 어린이관에 따라 ‘어린이 키우기’와 ‘어린이 모시기’는 대비되어 나타난다. 이 글에서 살펴본 「동규」는 어린이를 불완전한 존재로 보고, 어린이를 어른이 키워야 하는 대상으로 바라보고, 체벌과 강압, 금지하는 유아교육으로 나타난다. 이와 대조적으로 「해월신사법설」은 어린이를 잉태부터 이미 완전한 존재(한울님)로 파악하고, 어린이를 어른이 섬기고 모셔야 할 대상으로 삼는 생태유아교육과 같은 입장을 취하고 있음을 알 수 있다.

This study focuses on children in ‘Eco-Early Childhood Education’ and compares the following two pieces of literature: “Dong-Gyu(童規)” and “Haewolsinsa-Beobseol(海月神師法說)”. These two pieces of literature focus on the following perspectives: ‘Raising the Child’ and ‘Serving the Child’. “Raising the Child” is an incomplete perspective that advocates children being reared according to their looks. Conversely, in ‘Serving the Child’, children are identified as perfect beings and are considered adults. We found that two books from the Joseon Dynasty, “Dong-Gyu” and “Haewolsinsa-Beopseol”, compare these two perspectives. By comparing the two sets of data, we were able to determine the correct orientation for Early Childhood Education, which also enriches ‘Eco-Early Childhood Education.’
