맞벌이 부모의 영아기 자녀 양육 경험에 관한 내러티브 탐구

A narrative inquiry into dual-income parents’ parenting experiences with infants

본 연구는 내러티브 탐구를 통해 영아기 자녀를 둔 맞벌이 부모의 양육 경험과 양육 경험의 의미를 알아보고자 하였다. 연구 참여자는 강원도 D시에 거주하는 영아기 자녀를 둔 맞벌이 부모 2쌍이었다. 본 연구에서는 참여자의 자녀 양육 현장에 들어가기, 현장텍스트 작성하기, 양육 경험을 드러내 줄 수 있는 내러티브 패턴과 주제 찾아 내러티브 구성하기 등을 통해 경험의 의미를 드러내고자 하였다. 탐구결과, 먼저 맞벌이 부모의 영아기 자녀 양육 경험을 각 가정별로 살펴보았다. 도원·희연 부모의 경우는 준비없이 시작된 독박육아로 인한 아버지의 육아우울증, 주양육자가 된 친정어머니를 따라가는 양육방식, 내 인생의 또 다른 전환점으로 양육 경험이 드러났고, 예린 부모의 경우는 육아휴직으로 인한 어머니의 산후우울증, 엄마사랑이 무엇보다 필요한 시기, 어린이집 선생님은 최고의 양육지원자로 양육 경험이 드러났다. 이러한 양육 경험은 ‘나’에서 ‘우리’ 되기의 과정, 아이를 통해 삶의 에너지와 행복을 얻는 부모, 아직은 초보 양육자이지만 부모 역할에 최선을 다하는 부모, 아이와 함께 성장하며 진정한 사랑을 배우고 실천하는 부모로 의미가 구성되었다. 본 연구를 통해 영아기 자녀를 둔 맞벌이 부모의 양육 경험을 이해하고, 그들의 삶에 맞는 적절한 양육지원이 이루어지기를 기대한다.

This study examined the parenting experience and meaning of dual-income parents with infants through narrative inquiry. We selected two pairs of dual-income parents with infants. First, the parenting experience of such parents was examined for each family. In the case of Dowon and Heeyeon’s parents, their father experienced depression due to being unprepared for infant rearing, parenting styles following their mother’s mother, and turning points in their lives. In the case of Yerin’s parents, their mother experienced postnatal depression due to maternity leave, a period when the child needs the care of their mother most, and a daycare center teacher offered support regarding child rearing. Second, the meaning of parenting experience was defined as a process of becoming “us” from “me”, parents who gain energy and happiness through their infants, parents who are still new to raising infants but do their best as parents, and parents who grow and develop with their infants and learn and practice true love. Exploring the parenting experience of dual-income parents with infants, this study provides practical and suitable support for their lives.
