부부·가족치료에서의 공통요인(common factors)에 대한 연구 동향 분석 -한국과 미국의 가족치료 관련 학술지를 중심으로-

Research Trends of Common Factors in Couple and Family Therapy - Centered on Academic Journals Related to Family Therapy in Korea and the United States -

본 연구는 2000년부터 2021년까지 20여 년간 한국과 미국의 가족치료 관련 학술지에 게재된 부부․가족치료(MFT)의 공통요인에 대한 연구동향을 파악하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 이를 위해 3개의 한국 학술지와 7개의 미국 학술지에서 총 52편의 공통요인 논문을 선정한 후 해당논문을 학술지별, 연도별로 분류하고, 공통요인 관점에 대한 연구자들의 입장과 학문별 공통요인 적용영역을 구분하였다. 또한 연구주제, 연구방법을 분류하고 각 논문들에서 확인된 공통요인을 정리한 후, 부부․가족치료에서 공통요인의 역할 및 기여를 학문영역별로 구분하였다. 연구결과, 한국은 2016년 이후 부부․가족치료의 공통요인 연구가 등장하기 시작했으며, 교육/훈련에 가장 많이 적용되었다. 미국의 공통요인 연구는 꾸준한 양적 성장을 보이고 있으며, 임상실천 영역에 가장 많이 적용된 것으로 나타났다. 연구주제는 ‘공통요인 확인’, ‘이론/모델 개발’, ‘공통요인에 대한 관점’, ‘공통요인별 연구’, ‘공통요인과 MFT 교육의 통합’, ‘MFT 공통요인 연구 리뷰’로 나뉘었다. 연구방법은 한국은 경험적 연구와 개념적 연구가 동등하게 이루어진 반면, 미국은 경험적 연구보다 개념적 연구가 더 많이 수행된 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 이와 같은 분석을 통해 국내 부부․가족치료의 연구, 이론, 임상실천, 교육/훈련, 슈퍼비전에서 공통요인에 대한 유용성과 시사점을 제공하고, 나아가 이 분야의 학문적, 실천적 성장과 발전을 위한 방향성을 모색했다는 의의를 지닌다.

Objectives: This study’s aim is to identify research trends on the common factors of couple and family therapy (MFT) published in academic journals related to family therapy in Korea and the United States over a period of 20 years from 2000 to 2021. Methods: A total of 52 common factor papers from 3 Korean and 7 American journals were analyzed. Results: In Korea, studies on common factors of couple and family therapy started appearing after 2016, and were most often applied to education/training. Studies derived from U.S. journals showed steady quantitative growth and were most often applied to clinical practice. Research topics were divided into identification of common factors, theory/model development, perspectives on common factors, research for each common factor, integration of common factors and MFT education, and review of MFT common factor research. Conclusions: Suggested implications for common factor research, theory, clinical practice, education/training and supervision, and recommendations for further promotion of academic and practical growth and development of couple and family counseling in Korea are presented.
