The purpose of this study was to develop the Playfulness Assessment Scale for University Students and to verify its validity and reliability. For this purpose, 22 preliminary studies and existing scales were reviewed, and 22 counselors and Counseling Graduate Student participated in focus group interview. Based on the open questionnaires of 154 University students, the items were produced, followed by 55 preliminary questions Developed a scale. This preliminary scale was administered to a sample of 540 University Students in G City. Through an exploratory factor analysis with this field trial data, a scale consisting of 30 items and the following 4 factors emerged: Humor, Heung Seeking(Excitement), Energetic and Novelty Seeking. Cronbach s α of the total scale was found to be .92, with those of the 4 factors ranging from .79 to .92. The confirmatory factor analysis results showed that the 30-items scale had a good fit to the data. In this study, to examine the validity of the developed scale, the playfulness scale of Glynn and Webster (1992), Schaefer and Greenberg (1997). And the overall validity of the validity test was good. Finally, implications of the study results as well as limitations and suggestions for future studies were discussed.
