As a means to improve the social skills and interactive peer plays of young children from multi-cultural families, this study, first, developed a social competence enhancement program focusing on fairy tales and, then, applied it to the children. The program was implemented twice a week to four target children with the multi-cultural background who attended the private S Kindergarten located in Changwon. Pre- and post-social skills and interactive peer play scores were measured, compared, and analyzed. In addition, behavioral changes in the children during the program were also analyzed. The results were as follows: (1) the social competence enhancement program could predict the improvement of the social skills in multi-cultural family children; (2) the program, also, could predict the promotion of their interactive peer plays. Conclusively, the social competence enhancement program improves the social skills and interactive peer plays of the young children from multi-cultural families.
