This study investigated the effects the perceived maternal parenting style, family strength, and sibling relationship of children with disabled sibling have on their happiness. The subjects were 104 children who have disabled siblings. Measurement instruments included adjusted Happiness Scale (You, 2011), Mother’s Parenting Style Scale (Kim, 1996), adjusted Family Strengths Scal (Han, 2006), and Sibling Relationship Attitude Scale (Schaeffer & Edgerton, 1979). The data were analyzed by frequency, percentage, Cronbach α and hierarchical multiple regression. The results were as follows: First, the children perceived themselves relatively happy, having healthy families with affectionate and autonomous parenting from the mothers. They, further, regarded their relationships with the disabled sibling as receptive, supportive, unstartled, and non-hostile. Second, the more they perceived to receive affectionate and autonomous parenting, and to have healthy families and supportive relationships with the disabled siblings, the happier they felt. In conclusion, a child with a disabled sibling would feel more happiness when they perceive to have more affective and autonomous rearing from their mothers, more family strengths, and more supportive attitudes about sibling relationships.
