This study investigated adolescents affect and flow states during daily sports and other activities and how these states were related to their psycho-social adjustment. Participants were 104 middle school students (39 boys and 65 girls). Using ESM(Experience Sampling Method), their affect and flow states during daily activities were repeatedly measured 6 times a day for 4 days. Findings were as follows: first, positive affect states during daily sports activities were higher than those states during schoolwork, conversation, passive leisure, and maintenance activities. Flow states during sports activities were also higher than those states during schoolwork activities only. Second, positive affect states during daily sports activities positively correlated with self-resiliency, lower depression, and defending behaviors for bullied friends. Findings were discussed in respect to the importance of sports activities in the healthy psycho-social development of adolescents.
