A Preliminary Study on Ways to Improve Parent s Satisfaction Using Day Care in the Workplace

This study aims to investigate ways to improve parent s satisfaction using day care in the workplace. For this study, 500 parents in Korea who use the workplace child care services participated and a survey method was conducted. The collected data was analyzed with descriptive statistics, x²-test, and t-test using the SPSS Win 21.0 version. The results of this study were as follows: The satisfaction percentage of the parents who use the workplace child care centers were generally high and the most used services were personality guidance and child development knowledge. Also, the average monthly total cost for child care before and after using day care in the workplace decreased from 3,010,322 won to 1,575,309 won. In addition, parents exhibited a strong interest in continuing their enrollment in workplace child care centers. Therefore, more workplace child care services should be provided in order to reduce the burden of child care among working parents. The results of the present study give useful implications to policy makers in regards to parent s satisfaction using day care in the workplace.
