The aim of this research was to examine the mediating effect of post-event rumination and the moderated mediating effect of self-compassion in the effect of perfectionistic self-presentation on social anxiety among undergraduate students. The subjects of this research were 341 male and female undergraduate students attending a 4-year university nationwide. The data was collected via online and offline by using self-reporting questionnaire. SPSS 25.0 and SPSS Process Macro was used to analyze the data. The research results were as follows. First, perfectionistic self-presentation, post-event rumination, social anxiety, and self-compassion were significantly correlated. Second, post-event rumination was completely mediating effect in the effects of perfectionistic self-presentation on social anxiety. Third, self-compassion was not moderated mediating effect in the effects of perfectionistic self-presentation, post-event rumination and social anxiety. This research highlight the paths from perfectionistic self-presentation to social anxiety through post-event rumination among undergraduate students.
