Young Children’s Material Intra-actions and Becoming-Nomadic Mathematical Inquirer in Play

Young children’s life is closely related with mathematics. This study focuses on finding a way to restore the children’s ruined life, in the formative mathematics education of nowadays. Therefore, this study dismissed the equality in the method of mathematics education, and examined the process of how the events that occur due to the causal encounter between the signs of mathematics and the materials-agent in the play which is a representative real life of the young children, and the process of becoming-nomadic mathematical inquirer through this based on the Deleuze Philosophy. For this purpose, ‘H’ day care center was selected, as a research site, and this study conducted participation observation for about two months from July to August 2019 and carried out educational documentation to capture various mathematical situations. The results are as follow. Firstly, as an interpreter of signs, young children were encountering and developing their capacity to interpret complex sings. Secondly, young children affected by the body movement, encountering signs related with mathematical principles. Thirdly, as an creator of unpredictable hybrid play, young children generated the informal mathematical play by connecting the latent mathematical principles in play with various unrealistic fictional factors.
