북한이탈주민이 한국 사회에서 경험한 차별에 대한 현상학적 연구

Exploring discrimination experiences of North Korean defectors in South Korea: Using a phenomenological approach

본 연구는 북한이탈주민들이 남한에서 경험하는 차별의 본질적인 의미를 이해하기 위해 북 한이탈주민 3명을 심층 면접한 자료를 바탕으로 현상학적인 분석을 진행하였으며 상황적 구조 진술 분석과 일반적 구조진술 분석으로 분석하였다. 자료 분석을 통해 북한이탈주민들이 경험 하는 차별 경험에 대한 본질을 21개의 의미단위, 9개의 드러난 주제, 4개의 본질적 주제로 구조 화하였다. 상황적 구조진술 분석에서 드러난 4개의 본질적 주제는 북한에서 한국까지, 한국에서 경험하는 양가감정, 열등감을 조장하는 한국 사회에서의 차별, 차별의 상처와 내면화이다. 일반 적 구조진술 분석에서 차별 원인은 한국 사람들의 문화적 우월감, 차별의 결과는 북한이탈주민 들의 문화적 열등감으로 분석되었다. 그 결과 북한이탈주민들은 스스로 차별을 받아들이는 것 과 동시에 다른 북한이탈주민에 대해 부정적 관점을 가지고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 연구결과를 토대로 북한이탈주민을 위한 사회복지실천 및 다문화교육에 대한 함의를 제공했다.

In order to understand the essential meaning of discrimination experienced by North Korean defectors in South Korea, this study conducted a phenomenological analysis based on in-depth interview data of three North Korean defectors and analyzed situational structural statements and general structural statements. Through data analyses, the essence of the discrimination experienced by North Korean defectors was structured into 21 semantic units, 9 revealed themes, and 4 essential themes. In the general structural statement analyses, the cause of discrimination was analyzed as the cultural superiority of South Koreans, and the result of discrimination was analyzed as the cultural inferiority of North Korean defectors. As a result, it was found that North Korean defectors accepted discrimination as part of their own and then exhibited discriminatory perception and behavior against the same North Korean defectors. Based on the results of this study, policy and practice implications are discussed.
