빅 아이디어에 기반한 교육과정 설계와 교사의 역할 탐구

A Study on the Big Idea-based Curriculum Design and Its Teacher s Roles

최근에는 학교 교육의 문제점을 해결하고 학생들의 역량 함양을 위한 교육 방안의 일환으로 빅 아이디어가 주목받고 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 문헌 연구를 통해 첫째, 빅 아이디어의 의미 및 역할에 대해 밝히고, 둘째, 이해중심 교육과정과 IB 교육과정에 대해 탐구하여 빅 아이디어에 기반한 교육과정 설계 방안을 도출하고자 하였다. 다음으로 교육과정 설계 연구를 통해 국어과 교육과정을 설계하였다. 셋째, 빅 아이디어를 반영한 교육과정의 설계 및 실행에서 교사들의 바람직한 역할을 제안하고자 하였다. 연구의 결과, 도출한 빅 아이디어 중심의 교육과정 설계 방안을 적용하여 국어과 단원을 개발하였으며 교사의 역할을 교육과정 설계, 평가, 교수-학습 측면으로 구분하여 교육과정의 설계자, 타당한 평가 과제 개발자, 신뢰로운 평가자, 적극적인 조력자로 제안하였다.

Recently, big idea is attracting attention to solve problems in school education and develop students competency. In this study, first, the meaning and role of big idea are revealed through literature research. Second, the design method is derived from exploring the understanding by design and the IB curriculum. Next, we intended to develop a Korean language curriculum based on big idea through curriculum design research and suggest the desirable roles of teachers. The Korean language department was developed by applying the curriculum design method centered on the big idea derived from the research results. And by dividing the teacher’s role into curriculum design, evaluation and teaching-learning aspects, the roles of curriculum designer, valid evaluation task developer, reliable evaluator, and active facilitator were suggested.
