블렌디드 학습환경에서 ‘참여적 학습(Participatory Learning)’기반 중학교 뮤지컬 수업사례

A Case Study of‘Participatory Learning - based Middle School Musical Theatre Education in a Blended Learning Environment

디지털 테크놀러지와 네트워크 환경의 발전으로 사회 전반에 ‘참여적 문화’가 확산되면서 교육에서도 학습자의 참여가 보장된‘참여적 학습’의 중요성이 커지고 있다. 참여적 학습 방법은 특히 표현과 창작, 협력을 중시하는 문화예술교육에서 효과적이다. 본 연구의 목적은 종합공연예술 분야로 자기표현과 창작, 연결과 협력적 활동, 그리고 순환 등 학습자 참여가 두드러지는 뮤지컬 교육 분야에서 참여적 학습의 교육적 효과를 살펴보는 것이다. 뮤지컬 수업은 최근 Covid-19 상황을 감안하여 온·오프라인을 혼합한‘블렌디드’방식으로 진행되었다. 연구 대상은 중학교 1학년 학생들로 4개월간 15차시에 걸쳐 수업이 이루어졌다. 연구는 연구자의 참여 관찰을 바탕으로 한 사례연구 방법으로 진행되었으며, 연구 과정에서 성찰일지, 활동 결과물, 인터뷰 등 다양한 질적 자료를 수집하여 분석하였다. 연구 결과, 학생들은 참여적 학습에서 강조하는 학습 요소인 창작, 연결, 협력, 순환, 디지털 테크놀러지 등을 모두 경험하였으며, 온라인 뮤지컬 수업을 긍정적이고 호의적으로 바라보고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 본 연구는 뮤지컬 수업을 비롯한 문화예술교육에서 테크놀러지 기반 참여적 학습의 효과를 실증적으로 보여주었다는 데에 의의가 있다.

As ‘participatory culture’ spreads with the development of digital technology and network environments, ‘participatory learning’ that guarantees learners’ participation becomes important in education. A participatory learning method is particularly effective in arts and culture education. The purpose of this study is to examine the educational effects of participatory learning in the field of musical theatre education where learners’ participation such as self-expression, creation, connection, collaboration and circulation is prominent. In a blended learning environment due to the Covid-19 situation, this study had been conducted over 4 months with first-year middle school students. The research is a case study method based on the participant observation. Various qualitative data were collected and analyzed during the research process. As a result of the study, it was found that the students experienced all the learning elements emphasized in participatory learning, such as creation, connection, collaboration, circulation, and digital technology. They mentioned the class very satisfactory. This study is significant in that it shows the effect of technology-based participatory learning in cultural arts education including musical theatre class.
