An analysis on the change process of mother’s child image in mother counseling process during play therapy of young children exhibiting anxiety

The purpose of this study was to analyze the change process of mother s child-image to her daughter in mother counseling process during her daughter’s play therapy. The participant was a mother who had a five-year-old girl received play therapy because of exhibiting anxiety. Data were collected by consulting data and seven sessions of personal counseling with a mother and by interviewing with a mother in mother counseling process during her daughter’s play therapy. Transcribed data were analyzed by a qualitative research method. The participant’s child-image was changed in the following order. 1) the stage of projection image 2) the conflict stage of projection image 3) the awareness stage of the cause of projection image 4) the empathic stage of projection image 5) the stage of trying to receiving her child real image as it is 6) the stage of receiving her child real image as it is.
