인류가 처한 환경 위기는 이제 사회적 정의로 확장되고 있다. 생태계를 바라보는 인간의 관점에 변화가 필요한 시점이다. 성경은 인간과 환경 사이의 상관성에 대한 깊은 통찰을 간직하고 있었으며 상호 보존을 위한 바람직한 원리들을 제시하고 있다. 구약에서 안식일은 인간과 동물의 쉼, 안식년은 땅의 쉼을 지향하며, 희년은 가족의 회복을 과제로 삼는다. 이는 인간의 존재론적인 뿌리를 하나님 안에서, 환경론적인 뿌리는 땅에서, 사회적인 근거는 가정에서 되찾아야 하는 생태신학의 명제에 대한 맞춤형의 토대를 제시한다. 신약에서 예수는 동물적 약육강식의 세계에서 당신의 목숨을 만민의 생명을 위한 대속물로 내어줌으로써 새로운 창조적 생명계를 열었다. 그리스도의 죽으심과 부활을 통하여 인류는 땅과 식량을 둘러싼 오늘날의 생존적 갈등을 해결할 수 있는 방향을 찾을 수 있다. 하나님 나라의 전망은 종말적일 뿐만 아니라 현재적이기 때문이다. 인간은 하나님께 영광을 돌리며 동료 인간과의 관계뿐아니라 천연계와의 관계 속에서도 협력과 공존, 섬김과 사랑의 관계를 이루도록 창조되었다. 예수 그리스도 안에서 인간이 하나님과 연합하는 이 관계는 천연계로 확장된다. 그리스도인은 ‘기후 시민’으로서 새로운 윤리 체계를 구성해야 한다. 녹색교회와 생명목회를 바탕으로 성도들에게 환경의 청지기로서의 사명을 교육하고 기후 위기를 해결하기 위한 바른 방향을 제시해야 한다.
The environmental crisis facing mankind is now extending to social justice. It is time for a change in the human perspective on the ecosystem. The Bible holds a deep insight into the relationship between man and the environment, and presents desirable principles for mutual preservation. In the Old Testament, the Sabbath aims at rest for humans and animals, the Sabbath year aims at the rest of the earth, and the year of Celebration sets the task of restoring the family. This suggests a customized foundation for the proposition of ecological theology, which must recover human ontological roots in God, environmental roots in the land, and social grounds in the home. In the New Testament, Jesus opened a new creative world of life by giving His life as a ransom for the lives of all people in the world of animalistic, weak-fleshed. Through Christ's death and resurrection, mankind can find a way to resolve today's survival conflicts over land and food. For the prospect of the kingdom of God is not only eschatological, but also present. Human beings were created to bring glory to God and to achieve relationships of cooperation and coexistence, service and love, not only in relationships with fellow humans, but also with nature. In Jesus Christ, man is united with God, and this relationship extends to nature. Christians must construct a new ethical system as ‘climate citizens’. Based on the Green Church and Life Ministry, we need to educate the members on their mission as stewards of the environment and suggest the right direction to solve the climate crisis.
