신흥종교 이탈자를 위한 기독상담 연구

A Study on the Christian Counseling for Seceders from New Religious Movement

본 연구의 목적은 신흥종교 이탈자를 ‘종교로 인해 심리적 어려움을 경험하는 내담자’로 바라보면서 기독상담적인 대안을 제시하는 것이다. 종교를 추구하는 인간의 영적인 측면이 왜곡된 신념의 영향을 받게 될 때, 종교중독과 더불어 신흥종교의 폐해에 빠지는 결과를 초래하게 된다. 이것은 개인․가정․교회․사회․국가에 이르기까지 심각한 영향을 미치고 있으며, 교회와 기독상담센터에서 활용할 수 있는 상담지식과 매뉴얼이 요구되는 상황이다. 이를 위해 본 연구에서는 먼저 이탈자의 심리적 문제와 상담의 현황에 대해 분석하고, 기독상담적인 대안과 통합적인 기독상담방법을 제시하기 위한 상담이론들로서 자기심리학, 합리적 정서행동치료, 그리고 가족체계이론을 제시하였다. 먼저 이탈자의 거울․이상화․쌍둥이 자기대상의 결핍에 대해 자기심리학을 적용하여 상담자와 관계적 틀을 구축하고, 다음으로 합리적 정서행동치료를 적용하여 왜곡된 신앙과 하나님 이미지에서 벗어나서 대안적 믿음을 발견할 수 있도록 돕는다. 마지막으로 이탈자의 문제를 가족체계적인 관점에서 분석하여 가족들이 상호 이해하고 지지할 수 있도록 촉진하게 된다. 결론적으로, 통합적인 기독상담방법은 이탈자에게 안전하고 존중받는 치료적 분위기를 제공하고, 왜곡된 신념을 대안적인 믿음으로 변화시켜서 건강한 행동의 변화로 나아갈 수 있도록 돕게 된다. 본 연구는 국내외 문헌을 중심으로 한 연구로서 임상연구를 위한 예비연구라는 의의를 가지고 있으며, 목회와 상담의 현장에서 이탈자와 가족들의 심리적 돌봄에 기여할 수 있을 것이다.

This study analyzed the psychological issues and counseling of seceders of the new religious movement and proposed alternative Christian counseling. Distorted beliefs lead to religious addiction and susceptibility to new religions’ adverse effects. This significantly impacts individuals, their families, churches, the society, and the nation. Currently, counseling for seceders is conducted in heresy consultation centers, focusing on heretic doctrine falsification. Churches and Christian counseling centers require counseling knowledge and manuals regarding seceders. We applied three compositional theories: a relational framework with counselors utilizing self-psychology was established; rational emotive behavioral therapy was applied to aid the discovery of alternative beliefs distinct from distorted religious beliefs and God images; and seceders’ psychological issues were analyzed and explained from a family systems theory perspective. These applications recommend alternatives and integrated Christian counseling methods. Furthermore, they have implications for seceders’ psychological care concerning religious ministry and counseling.
