보배로운 산 돌로 말미암은 그리스도인의 정체성

보배로운 산 돌”이신 예수 그리스도로 말미암아 그리스도인들이 얻게 된 새로운 정체성은 바로 “하나님의 백성”이다. 베드로전서의 수신자들은 세상 속에서 일부였고, 그들은 정황상 세상 속에서 세상 사람들에게 상당한 고난을 받는 것으로 보인다. 그리스도인들이 믿는 예수 그리스도 역시 세상 사람들에게 버림을 받았다. 그렇지만 하나님께서는 그리스도를 택하셔서 거룩한 집의 머릿돌을 삼으시고 영광의 자리에 올려 놓으셨다. 그러므로 베드로는 그리스도인들은 예수의 고난을 모범으로 삼는 삶을 살아야 한다고 권면하고 있다. 이런 관점에서 베드로전서의 핵심 주제를 “선한 양심”으로 볼 수 있다.

The new identity that Christians gained from Jesus Christ, the 'precious living stone,' is the 'people of God.' The recipients of 1Peter were small part of the world, and they seem to suffer considerably from the people of world. Jesus Christ, believed by Christians, was also abandoned by the people of the world. However, God chose Christ and made the cornerstone of the holy house and placed it in the place of glory. Therefore, Peter recommends that Christians live a life that exemplifies Jesus' suffering. From this point of view, the core theme of 1 Peter can be seen as 'a clear conscience.'
